Ultrasound Changed My Life
We all encounter difficult times in life, and being a doctor is no exception. Upon completing medical school, I initially believed that diagnosing conditions would be as straightforward as the textbooks suggested. However, reality proved more challenging. There were moments in my medical journey that left me feeling utterly helpless - I didn't know the patient's problem, and I didn't know what to do. I experienced a guilty conscience, the classic feeling of falling short and finding no joy in my work.
But a turning point arrived when I diagnosed my first case of cardiac tamponade in a patient using ultrasound. It became evident to me that ultrasound is the future of elevated patient care. In that moment, I transformed into a lifeline, and I firmly believe that you, too, possess the power to be a lifeline.

So, why am I doing this?
I do this for my parents, who sacrificed everything for me. I want to give back, even if it's just a little compared to what they’ve done for me. As they grow older and might face health challenges, I want to be ready to help, even though I know I can't do everything. They inspire me, and that’s why I’m here - to help dedicated doctors like you see how useful ultrasound can be. Together, we can improve care, not just for my parents, but for so many others who deserve the best.
Now, I’m here to help you so you can provide better care and truly make a difference.

Senior Consultant in thrombosis and hemostasis outpatient clinic
Hospital Ă–stfold Kalnes & OUS Rikshospitalet
Eirik (born 1979) completed his medical education in Denmark in 2009 and currently works as a senior consultant at the thrombosis outpatient clinic at Hospital Ă–stfold Kalnes and Rikshospitalet. His primary interest lies in benign hematology with a particular focus on thrombosis, coagulation, and rare conditions such as immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) and paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH). During his education, he encountered ultrasound DVT and echocardiography, which sparked his interest in these fields, especially now in connection with the thrombosis clinic.
Due to the high number of patients with serious illnesses and tough treatments in benign and malignant hematology, Eirik has also come across patients with erectile dysfunction, and this has become a special area of interest for him over the last year with a focus on shockwave-treatment and therapy. Additionally, Eirik is partner of NorVue and is one of the instructors you will meet in the online courses.
